A Rare Occassion

Let's face it... I'm no expert in cars, but I know a lamborghini when I see one and where I come from, everyone knows how expensive they are.

So it's a Saturday night and I had just come out of the cinemas with some friends. Having nothing to do, we wondered around the streets flitting from convenience store to convenience store. Just as we walked over to a brightly lit building, an orange car caught my eye. Before I could register what car it was exactly, I was already pointing and showing my friends what I had proudly discovered. Some may say that it is just a car, an automobile just like any other, however, whenever I see these cars I feel like I've stumbled upon some rare occassion and often find myself needing to make a wish or something.

I get so wrapped up by the reputation of the class and sophistication of these magnificent automobiles that I always seem to want to touch them. In no time did I walk up to the lamborghini and start gawking at the visible high-horse power engine at the rear. Although people looked at me strangely when I was taking a couple of photos of the car, I felt really lucky that night. Afterall, one does not really expect to see these sort of cars in Daejeon.

However, the more I thought about it sitting there in the parking space outside the convenience store, I sort of realized that that Lamborghini was not much different from any of the other cars that were there. Yes, the Lamborghini is faster, sleeker and smoother (not to mention worth a fortune) but all of these cars are made from the same stuff and may even have the same technology built inside. Plus, all cars look the same after reckless drivers make them a crush piece of metal.

I guess this vaguely describes the philosophy of what I live by. We are all metals and plastics. We have a choice to add color, technology or speed to ourselves. We may choose to become a luxury car depending on our choices we make or a middle-class car depending on the choices we don't make. Aspects of our lives constantly add and improve features that we have and it's always important to meet the people who can help build you or later fix you when you break down. One thing is common though, if we screw up, we can all just end up becoming that piece of crushed metal. Seeing that car kind of reminided myself which one I wanted to be.

Finally, I parted with the car because my friends were getting bored. I wonder around a bit but I knew it was getting long and my friends were already sick of me "oohing" and "wowing". As I reluctantly walked away I noticed a loud humming of an engine. As I turned around, hoping it was coming from the orange vehicle I had been admiring the whole time, I saw nothing. Wondering where the impressive sound was coming from, I convinced my group to walk over to the corner of the street and look around. Turns out, the sound was coming from a red Ferrari which was waiting at one of the traffic lights.

I just stood there... quietly... thinking to myself "now you don't see THAT everyday".
